Where can I get cheap Dorm room furniture?

For my son's room I was working with a small space and an even smaller budget.  I found a great site; loftbed-store.com.  Heard great things about their product and their site has great ideas.  But their stuff was way out of my budget.  I started checking Craigslist and a local yahoo group in my area that is a yardsale group.  I found one that fit my needs and was in my budget. I painted it, used the area under the loft bed to put a tall chest of drawers and a bookshelf (all found on the two groups).  Then I happened upon a small futon on freecycle so we put that under the bed and between the bookshelf and chest of drawers.  It took about 2 1/2 months to find everything and to put it together in it's completion. I spent about $210 (but it was broken up throughout the 2 1/2 months).  After painting all of the furniture, the pieces looked like I had bought them as a set at a furniture store.  With sites like freecycle you can actually put in "wanted" requests, like "dorm furniture" or "dorm refrigerator" and often there is a member that might be able to fulfill your request, for free.  The only thing to remember is that it's NOT a site for fairy godmothers to grant extraordinary wishes, it's a site to keep good usable stuff OUT of landfills.   And as long as you stay flexible and creative, you can make a lot of this stuff work to fit your needs.  Hope this helps.
