I don&#039;t know Melbourne at all, but I do know we used to have a fire place and what we would do is go to where they store the pellets that all food and boxes come on, and with there broken ones they would just let the public take them away as it was cheaper then having to dump them themselves, hope this helps, and PS its bloody cold up here in Queensland to just out of interest LOL.

The easiest way is to take every second paling off the fence. This leaves enough to retain the wall, and yet gives enough wood for a night.

Other sources include foraging for wood and timber, up bush, in the country.

If you wish to &#039;buy&#039; your fire-wood - the cheapest method is through the LET$ trading scheme - where you basically barter with other people in the local community. There are many links and references to LETS - especially in the North and East suburbs.
