I have crappy college when it comes to financial aid. I'm suppose to not have to pay for college. I'm suppose to get all sorts of grants but I don't where get them. My mom died when I was young and I was in Department of human services custody. I have to take out these loan and that still isn't enough.

  1. Just because you were in DHS custody doesn't always mean you schooling will be free. You didn't mention your age, or how much  money you made last year.  But hopefully you have already applied at http://fafsa.ed.gov  Also, a lot depends on the cost of your school.  If you are attending an expensive school the Pell grant and state grants may not be enough.

Consider finding a cheaper school (community college) and I would also contact your local Department of Human Services office and explain your situation.  Most DHS offices have support services for kids who have recently "aged out" of the system... called "Independent Living" Programs that will give the school money to help pay for your college.  DO THIS NOW!!!  Don't wait.

  2. fasfa

  3. try fastweb.com or scholarship.com

you can enter to win scholarships usually by writing essays, making presentations, videos, paintings, drawings, photography, and much more.

  4. I am assuming you filled out the FAFSA because you were offered loans and such. If not go to fafsa.ed.gov....

Second, you may be eligible to fill out a special circumstance. If you do not have legal guardians and you plan on paying for everything yourself, that could potentially qualify you. It just depends, but you should try to make yourself an Independent student because that will give you access to all types of aid. Usually students only get the pell grant when it comes to grant. Other sources is usually scholarships and grants from outside agencies. Scholarships can be a big help, so make sure you keep your grades up and keep filling them out.

Your first step is to see if you qualify as an independent student... then check out some outside agencies. There are state and local. Just about ever county has a community foundation that raises money for scholarships and do not get that many apps so you better odds for these. Just investigate and you should find some help!

  5. first fill out a FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov and  i believe theres a question on there that asks if your parents died that can entitled you to some federal grants. theres also pell and state grants too youd probably be eligble for.

also theres scholarships too at www.fastweb.com so check it out.

your college should be able to guide you as to where to find out information about paying for college. but they cant help much if you didnt fill out a fafsa

  6. CHECK LOCALLY where you live  there are local grants and scholarships available. If your parents belong to clubs or organizations,

    OR

get convicted of a crime go to prison get all of your meals and college tuition for FREE!!!!!

the second choice is  a very BAD idea however an option

was meant to be funny and NOT mean

  7. go to fafsa.gov
