it's incredible that all the other answers are WRONG!

1) you ***can*** download FREE & legal music,some bands are using free downloads as selfpromotion.

eg.

2)there are sites with mp3 public domain = no copyrights = FREE & legal

3)YouTube is full of music well recorded in the form of music video,you can use a good screen capture software that record the sound directly from the operating system,you can strip away the video later with QuickTime pro (movie properties : uncheck the video track) or you can dowload the whole video with TubeSocks or the like and do the same thing.(then you "export" it as mp3)

4)search for torrents,you'll find big collections all in one.

5) buy a Mac and forget the virus. (I use an antivirus but I've never ever had a problem,it's only "just in case")

you cant, because its illegal to download free music that's why most of these sites have viruses so you wont find many good places.
