  1. sushi jin on Memorial and Dairy Ashford.. very authentic and affordable

  2. Check them out !

  3. Osaka Japanese Restaurant

    515 Westheimer Rd.

    Houston, TX 77006

    713.533.9098

They have some great lunch specials that run the spectrum of Japanese food a very good prices.

  4. Benihanna's.

  5. My Japanese friends and co-workers love Sasaki (Westheimer and Fondren). It is very good, but a lot closer to the more traditional "famiresu" (family restaurant) in Japan.

For a step up, there's the Blue Door (Wilcrest and Westheimer) that used to be Nara. It is in the same strip center as Nippon Daido grocery store.

  6. Depends on what you want to do.

The best Japanese restaurant is Sage 400, which is behind Galleria mall.  It has some of the freshest fish and has some exotic sushi - lobster sushi from live lobster, abalone sushi, and some stuff you can not get outside of California, New York, and Hawaii.  It is pricey but worth the money.

Other ones I like include Miyaho, Cafe Japon, and Coco Yakatori, most are on west side of Houston on Westheimer and Richmond.

As for buffet, there are 3 major Japanese Buffet places.  Todai (I-10 at Silber) is a bit over priced now that they have Brazilian style food, and the quality of sushi is not as high as the other 2 places.  Personally, I like Kirin Two outside Willowbrook mall, which has fabulous hot food, and sushi is nice, for $25 pp.  I also like Tokyo One on Beltway 8 feeder between Westheimer and Richmond, $23 pp with some very nice sushi and good quality (but not too diverse) hot food.

    Enjoy

  7. Hida's at Gessner and 249

  8. Definitely Kaneyama on Westheimer:

    Kaneyama Japanese Restaurant

    (713) 784-5168

    kaneyama-houston.com

9527 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77063

    Enjoy!
