Cake Man Raven on Fulton Street and Elliott Place in Fort Greene, Brooklyn makes the best red velvet cake there is - and now he makes red velvet cupcakes.

Don't go to Magnolia cafe. The cupcakes are beautiful but taste like cardboard.

Buttercup Bakery

Northside of 72nd Street between Amsterdam and Columbus(I think).  Best red velvet cupcakes i've had...

Or, if you like free, at the Burgers and Cupcakes on 9th Ave(I think it's around 34th or 35th), at 9:30ish they give away their leftover cupcakes...

I like all of these quite a bit! the owners of buttercup and magnolia were partners who split up so the recipes are quite similar. they have the best buttercream frosting in the world.
