Due to a certain medical condition which was caused from extreme fear, Insurance companies keep rejecting my application due to my condition? I am a small business owner and I desperately need medical insurance. I thought it was illegal to deny coverage based on any medical condition, since if that was the case, people with cancer, HIV, Old age, mental conditions would not be covered.

I guess, being honest in life never pays........

  1. Sorry, insurance companies are NOT obligated to cover you unless you have a HIPPA form (must have been covered by group insurance within the past 18 mos.).  I know your situation sucks.  I'm self employed myself and have had issues myself.  It does not pay to lie to an insurance company because it is likely they WILL find out when you make a claim and not only will they not cover you, but lying to an insurance company is fraud and you could go to prison for it.  Your best bet is to take a part time job that provides benefits and work the minimum hours required to obtain benefits.  I know our system sucks.

  2. You cannot be denied if it is through an employer. However, with you being self employed you are forced to go to an outside agent, which I had to do as well. I had anxiety, and they refused to cover psychiatric parts of my medical bills. I hate that our system is like that. You might look into state programs, you can get coverage through state medical laws that offer small business owners a % of their bills paid, Im from Oklaoma, and I am in the process of getting that now. Check with your local Department of Human Services, I feel you, Sorry!
