Where can I get hold of Tunisian dinars in the UK?

Going to Tunisia in September and would like some ready Tunisian cash for use on arrival. any outlets in UK. Banks no help as the stock answer is closed economy system applies in Tunisia.

  1. You can exchange your money when you get to tunis airport. Why bother with the hassle of trying  to find an outlet. Its not worth the head ache. They dont make much commision.


  2. If that is the case then you will have to wait until you get there, or buy US dollars as they are often accepted in ME countries.

  3. Get it from ATMs in Tunisa, or from banks and bureaux de change there. It is illegal to import or export Tunisian dinars, so make sure you convert them back to GBP before you leave.

    Some duty free shops may accept £ or €

  4. Legally you can't and the banks have told you why.

    If you were to be searched by Tunisian customs and found to have any, you would have major problems. You would be accused of money laundering, the details would be sent to UK police. Your holiday would be ruined.

    Not worth the risk is it?
