I've heard that all these audoi/video cables are overpriced, and, with the exception of runs longer than 35 ft.,I have been told to just get the cheapest ones.Is this true? And if so what is the best online as well as brick and mortar store to get them?

  1. Just use component at 1080i 60i no diference to HDMIs 1080p 30p or 24p. Then just use good quality coax.

  2. The limit for cheap HDMI cables is about 15 ft. After this you should buy the cables with thicker inner wires.

I use a $38 BlueJeansCables HDMI cable for the run to my TV. (This will actually go about 100 ft according to the owner.)

For short jumps behind my rack, I use the inexpensive HDMI cables from MonoPrice.

Retail - Try the AR Pro cables or even "RocketDog" budget cables from BestBuy.

  3. That's the biggest scam going with the big box retail outlets like best buy and circuit city. They'll charge you up to $100 or more for HDMI Monster cables and you can get the same quality cables at walmart for $30. The mark up on the TV's aren't that great so they have to make up the differance somewhere else. My friend and I both have HD tv's by the same company and he spent over $600 on all his cables and we can't tell the differance! TRUST ME it's a scam. Also look under Consumer Reports or any other third party review company...that's what I did and saved $$$$.
