I've heard that it is possible to get some sub pay while student teaching in Michigan. There were a lot of restrictions and I'd like to learn the details. Any idea where I can get information on this?

  1. Sub pay comes from the employer, not the state.. That has to be between you and them..

  2. I would check the county websites.  I know that you can do this, and it generally happens within the classroom you are student teaching.  For example, if you are student teaching and the teacher is out at a meeting, you can get paid sub pay to sub and student teach at the same time.

I'm thinking that you might want to check the county/district websites?  Here are a few, (I'm not sure where you live!)

    http://www.oakland.k12.mi.us

    http://www.misd.net/

(Oakland and Macomb - 2 big ones)

    also check out http://www.michigan.gov/mde

    good luck!

  3. you must complete your undergrad teaching requirements 1st before you can be paid...what you are mistaking is the trade off between sub time and student teaching, if you sub more than 100 days in the same district it can be applied to your student teaching, you can not be paid for student teaching because you are being given credits by the college that have monetary value...this is called "double dipping" and causes a lot of problems...
