I just want more spin! I want to be able to stop it on a dime from 15 yards. I already have nice wedges but they are starting to show a little wear. I can't find much information on cutting grooves so anything you know please share. Thanks

  1. Using a golf tee to clean the grooves in before everyshot will help.

Try this website and have a look at this product:

    www.groovesharpener.net

It is proven that over time you will lose the spin on the ball than that of a new golf club.

Maybe that groove sharpener is the key to your question

  2. Before you decide to cut the grooves, you had better read the appendices to the Rules of Golf which give you maximum angle and depth of grooves. If you don't care to and are called in a tournament, you will be disqualified.  Spin comes from grooves but only through the proper striking of the ball, not through cheating.

  3. taken to a club maker check around that is certain depth and with that allowed by the USGA they can be cleaned up some .if you're not playing any tournaments no big deal if you're playing the tournament and so my questions and are not legal are disqualified

  4. I use the Groove sharpener from groovesharpener.com....Like the other person said....it works great .....also....although clean sharp grooves are necessary for a ball to spin.....a solid clean strike is also required.   Oh......and Unless you are a machinist....I would not use a Dremel tool.....1 slip and you are probably buying a new wedge.  Good Luck and enjoy the game :)

  5. Get one of those Dremmel tools with the rotating blade and you can do it yourself. That is how I do mine.
