Where can I get my state business licence?

I live in Pennslyvania. I am insured and I have a EIN/Tax id number. I own a painting company with a friend. We are operating as a sole proprietorship right now. We are going to get a LLC but don't want to get that done right now. How can I obtain a state license for my company? Approxamatly how long does it take and what is the cost? Any information will help. Also as I said I have a EIN number, I am insured, is there anything else I need to do to become legal other than the LLC?

i am also in PA and run my own business , your tax ID # legally is all you need since you have a EIN ( employer idenification number ) your already registered as a business in the state of PA .

now with that said some local governments require a license and this is simply done at the local office
