  1. I'm not sure what you mean by short term, but each state sets the minimum time period for a car insurance policy.  Most companies won't write it for less than six months, as the earned premium won't cover the administrative costs.

Best thing to do, is have a parent add you to their policy as a driver.

If you're BUYING a car, you have to buy the policy for the minimum time period in your state, and when you sell the car, you cancel the policy and pay the cancellation fees.

  2. You can try this company - http://autoinsurance.bebto.com - I personally have their car insurance. As I know they have such a service and their policy for teens is not such expensive as from other companies.

  3. short term?

  4. Your best bet is going to be to purchase a typical 6 month or 1 year policy, but pay monthly. Cancel it when you don't need it. Some companies charge a fee to cancel before the renewal date, some don't. Be sure to ask when searching.

  5. check out moneysupermarket.com or confused.com    they have section on all types of insurance and may be able to help you
