AmeriCorps is like an umbrella organization, with subgroups underneath. Each "club" focuses on different things. A couple examples are: Vista and the NCCC (National Civillian Community Corps)

AmeriCorps was a topic for high school debate my sophomore year. If I were you, I would research it thoroughly through a lot of websites because there was a lot of information out there saying AmeriCorps was poorly organized and everything. And always check on the news for AmeriCorps.

You'd have better luck getting a part or full time job.. it's not much money per hour that's for sure.

with that group you don't know what you'll be doing.  You might end up on some campaign that you don't agree with. Maybe you should think about the air national guard.. the will pay for your school, and you would be able to basically do what you want since they have 200 careers they can train you in.
