Also, it would be great if they are a bakery and do custom orders/designs.

Thanks!

  1. For the best carrot cake in the Philly area--hands down!--see the Carrot Cake Man at the D'Innocenzo Bakery counter in the Lancaster Farmer's Market in (on Rt. 30 in Wayne).  The man is a local legend; he makes carrot cakes and carrot breads, and a variety of carrot-fruit combinations: apple, blueberry, banana, pineapple, and (my personal favourite) peach.

The Farmer's Market is open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and there are *always* carrot cake samples available.  It is moist, and sweet, and delicious.

D'Innocenzo's direct phone line is 610-687-6580; I don't know if they take custom orders for the carrot cake, but it is worth asking.  I used to live a mile or two from there, and I would buy a carrot cake from them every chance I got(and everyone who's ever tasted it has insisted it's the best carrot cake they've ever had).

***EDIT: The market is located between the Strafford & Wayne R5 stations, about a half-mile walk from both.

As for bakeries in the city itself, I'm partial to the Pink Rose Pastry Shop at 4th & Bainbridge in Queen Village; I cannot vouch for their carrot cake.
