Consolidators are usually cheapest for one-way international flights.  http://www.bookingbuddy.com will search many for you, as well as Orbitz, Kayak, CheapO, Hotwire, airlines direct, etc etc. all in 1 go.

I bet you fly out of DTW. You may be able to change your return date if it's AT LEAST 24 hours before the flight takes off. And if you aren't there for your reservation on the other flight, then you may be able to get your money back if you complain to the airline.
