Where can I get the designs/ measrements for self builing Wood burning fireplace?

My weekend retreat is 120 years old farm house build on an area of two acres. Now, I am building a two beds anexie trying not to spoiling the old look (self designed) but with modren facilities (structure is complete). I have a good maison but he does'nt have expertise in building fireplaces. I will appeciate if any help can be given in providing the measurements/ designs for DIY.

  2. Building a masonry fireplace is a job that takes experience. Maybe you should consider buying the fireplace kits made from steel. They have brick veneer fronts for nice appearance.

  3. NFPA 211. This book contains all of the requirements (clearances, minimum design specifications etc) of solid-fuel burning appliances, including masonry fireplaces. However, it is not a blueprint, and much work must be spent in understanding the manual and cross referencing the different sections that apply to build a fireplace to that standard. Good luck.
