If I wanted to get virtual local phone numbers, for less than $5 per number where can I go? All I need the phones to do is forward to another phone number. I do not need any extra features on the phone just the ability to forward. Thanks.

  1. Some of the  VoIP services that I use make this very easy to do.

And, you don't have to buy or use any VoIP equipment.  You can configure all the features through your web-based online account (Dashboard).

With CallCentric, a DID (direct inbound dialing) phone number only costs $1.95/month + 1.5 cent/min for incoming calls.  Select any area code anywhere in USA/Canada.  Toll Free numbers are also available for $3.95/month.  There are no contracts or commitments.  Just pay-as-you-go, month-by-month.

Here is how you do it:

    - Sign up for a "Pay-Per-Call" account. (free)

    - Then, deposit $10 of pre-paid calling credits into your account.

    - Then, purchase a "Pay-Per-Minute" DID phone number in the area code of your choice  ($1.95/month + 1.5 cent/min incoming calls)

Once your account is all set up, you can now configure your account DID phone number to Forward All Calls:

    - Log into your account user DashBoard

    - Click on Preferences link

    - Click on DID Forwarding link and set the phone number you want all calls to your DID number to be forwarded to.

All forwarded calls are charged at the same rate as making an outbound call.  All calls (and forwarding) to USA/Canada numbers are charged at 1.98 cent/min.

So, the true cost of forwarding incoming calls to your DID is $1.95/month + 1.5 cent/min incoming + 1.98 cent/min forwarding.  Or, in other words, all incoming forwarded calls will cost 3.48 cent/min.  All per/min charges are deducted from your pre-paid call credits balance.

You can change the forward-to phone number any time you choose.

This is a very convenient way to self-administer your own call-forwarding service.
