1. everyone is entitled to a free credit check every 12 months. My family and I use annualcreditreport.com It doesn't ask for any type of payment method. Just enter your information pick one of companies that they have there for you to choose. Once you load the page of that company it'll ask you if you want to sign up for one of their programs just click no or it'll have a button that says free credit report. Its fast and easy. since its free you won't be able to see the report again if you try to sign in at another time so print all of the pages so you can look through it carefully. You are actually able to go back to the other companies and request a credit report from them too. I did that just to make sure they both had the same information. sorry its a little long. Hope that helps!

  2. annualcreditreport.com absolutely free report from the three credit biggies. of course each site will try to 'sell' you an upgrade, but just click the 'free report' link. You get to check your credit once a year from the big three for free.

  3. Once a year, all the credit agencies have to send you a free report. Then after that first one which is free, you can get another free credit report if you ever get turned down for credit.

Go online and find the mailing address of the credit agencies

and send them a letter with your current address and social security number, asking for your credit report. They will send it in the mail in a few weeks.

    It is free.

  4. I love the answers saying you are entitled to a free report...but they never tell you where to go. For future reference, the ONLY place you can get free credit reports is http://www.annualcreditreport.com.

By the way...TransUnion lost a class action lawsuit. If you had a credit card, bank loan, or any other type of account that could be reported by the credit bureaus, you qualify to be a participant. You can get 9 months of free credit monitoring, reports, and scores. Just visit https://www.listclassaction.com for information and to register as a participant.
