I was wondering if anyone has a good website where I could make a family tree. My Great-Grandmother recently passed away and My family wants to make a family tree that has her kids and their kids, and so on. I need a website like the one on ancestry.com where I can put pictures and put siblings, husbands, wives, and kid. It would also be nice if I could post pictures.

  1. I like geni.com  You can post pictures, put in stories, make profile pages, keep track of all the names.  Have a look.  There are things on the site that I haven't done yet, but I just discovered it last month.

  2. geneology.com

  3. You can try seeing if you have any family albums

    Here is a website

    www.encoreusa.com

When you get there look to the right on the top and you will see a box saying search encore. Type in family tree maker .Then you will see some. You have to buy it.

  5. lds.org and download (free) PAF file - it is great - I have over 4000 names on mine.

you can print all kinds of pedigree, family group, descendency, etc charts

  6. www.ancestry.com

  7. Ansestory.com i think researchs the family tree for you

  8. Oh gosh I have been to many, many different geneology sites and the best one I have found is here: http://www.geni.com

Geni.com is so awesome!  You can add pictures and you can have different accounts to access the family tree.  For instance, I invited my brother and my mother to the geni.com tree I created and they can go in and add what they know and/or change what isn't accurate.  I find that pretty useful.

If you would like to browse around to find one you like (we all have our tastes), here are some more:

Also I would suggest you go to this website for finding death records, social security numbers, date of birth/date of death records, etc.... It is a very good site.

  9. ancestry.com will do all of that and more, for a fee.

You can create the tree and ask family members to be contributors, by adding their branches, photos and stories.

Perhaps they would share the cost of a one-year membership.

A membership to ancestry.com will allow you access to Census records (1790-1930, USA), military records (Revolutionary War thru Vietnam), Social Security Death Index/SSDI and the trees of other members, who are researching the same last names/people.

You can also publish/print a nice bound copy of your family tree at any point in your research, for far less than an outside publishing company would charge. And the books make nice gifts.

But, before you get started, let me warn you!

    Genealogy can become addictive!!!

So many of us just wanted to research a few lines/branches, only to discover that we were unable to stop there.

    Good luch with your project!
