  1. Ouch.  Tough one.  A Laguiole is too expensive to just throw away and too unusual to get repaired at any old place.

    You don't say what's wrong with the corkscrew, but it might be the sort of thing that a custom knife maker could repair.  The problem is that custom cutlery shops are a lot harder to find than they used to be.  (You may know that the largest of these, Chesapeake Knife and Tool, just recently went out of business.)  

    If you can't find a knife repair shop, your only alternative might be to send the corkscrew back to Languiole for repair.  See the Web page below:

    Of course, the shipping charges are likely to be very expensive.  But while looking for the Laguiole Web site, I ran across a dealer in Connecticut that apparently offers free repairs of Laguiole products they sell.   That makes me think that you might be able to get your corkscrew repaired there (although presumably you would have to pay for the repair if you didn't buy the corkscrew from them).  Anyway, it may be worth checking out:
