Where can I have a wedding in Chicago and cater it myself?

I have been trying to plan my wedding and looking for an elegant space where I can bring the food myself. This has been challenging. Each place I talk to tells me that I need a caterer for various insurance reasons.

  1. There are some loft spaces you can rent and they don't care where the food comes from but they probably don't offer kitchen areas either. VFW and other organization halls might be better if you want to do some cooking on site. That said, they probably aren't the fanciest places ever. If you brought in fancy table linnens, chair covers and floral arangements and used tiny white christmas lights to set the mood it might be a complete makeover and work perfectly.
