I turn 15 september 1st, I'm a sophomore in high school and I want to volunteer. I was thinking the animal shelter, but I don't know if I need a parent with me. I absolutely love dogs, I have 2 big ones. I'm also good at training them, and teaching them new tricks. Where can I volunteer? I live in central Florida.

  1. You can start a dog walking buisness

all you need are fliers and experience

  2. First I want to say that I think its great that you want to volunteer. Call the shelter and ask if you can and how do you sign up for it. One of your parents will probably need to sign an authorization form. I have three daughters 14, 16 and 17 and the 14 year old has volunteered at our local county shelter for the last year walking and socializing dogs and socializing the cats. I went with her a number of times as I love animals (we have 2 dogs, one cat  - we just had to put one cat to sleep - a very sad day in our household - and a guinea pig. Mom goes with her sometimes as well but there have been times she has gone alone which is fine with the shelter. They are always looking for help. To find a shelter go to: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters.html

    Good Luck.

  3. The best way is to call the local animal shelter.  Each facility has specific rules on age and on what they allow you to do as a volunteer.

I urge you to pursue this cause.  More volunteers are desperately needed at all of our shelters!

  4. animal shelters

  5. uhh the pound

    or an adoption center
