So you're going to the Açores? And you need to brush up your português de Portugal/português europeu?

There's a wonderful group on Yahoo that will help you do that...for free!

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/awfulportu...

It's like a penpal group, with native speakers and other students, some of whom are professional teachers. (So it's really well-organized, not messy.) You write in and they respond and help you express yourself. They help you actually *think* in Portuguese, not just translate or memorize grammar rules.

They have lots of really cool learning activities at the site, too.

And it's not just reading and writing. They help you with listening and speaking as well. And the people are very nice and funny.

    They've helped me a lot!

Here are some suggestions I lifted from their site:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/other/por...

    http://www.linguasnet.com/lessons/home_p...

    http://linguatextltd.com/

(Click on the free mp3 lessons up at the top.)

But don't just use those links! Join the group so that they can help you. I know that they're looking for some students now, especially estudantes de português europeu. (They just had a couple "graduate".)

    You'll really like them!
