Hi everybody ^^. I have a strong thirst for knowledge and I currently would like to learn more about economics. I took two econ classes before (intro to microecon and macro). But those were a long while back (to be exact...several years, around 5). I also have asked questions on here, which have helped me understand more (thanks to some wonderful answers here). I'm currently reading Principles of Microeconomics (by Robert Frank) to refresh my memory..I'm also reading The Economist's View of The World (Steven Rhoads). But I'm interested in learning even more.

What tips do you have for me on learning more on econ? Are there any web sites you would suggest? I am also looking for more ways besides classes to learn more about econ (both micro and macro)- Thank you everybody!

  1. Your reading list sounds like a start, but you should really look into the book The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith. If you haven't read The Communist Manifesto by Engells and Marx it is an interesting work.

I would recommend you study the history of european economics, especially mercantilism, imperialism, and capitalism.

  2. Go to Barnes and Nobles, to the economics section. there are plenty of good books about economics there. If you are interested in studying it further; I would recommend getting some background of the history by reading the book linked below. Very well done book.

  3. There are many, many books on it, and classes as well.

    Get anything by Milton Friedman.

The guy was an absolute genius at economics.

You'll learn a LOT reading him.

  4. George, Henry - Progress and Povery and Social Problems

Galbraith, John Kenneth - The Afluent Society

Jacobs, Jane - Cities And The Wealth of Nations

    Bernstein - A Caring Society
