  1. my parents did that for katrina and it worked well but it was a pain to get it becuase of the flooding and looting they wouldnt let them in till about a week or two later

  2. I always do a park-n-fly or anyone of those places across Airline Hwy.

It's a lot cheaper than the airport, but there is no covered parking. I've never had a problem.

It didn't flood at the airport.

  3. The garage at the airport is probably the safest choice (though expensive).  However, the garage is probably already filled.

As I recall, the lots across Airline from the airport did not flood during Katrina (Park n Fly, US Park, etc.).  Call them or the Hilton (also across Airline from MSY) and ask.  The lots on Airline would also be much more economical than the airport parking garage.

Another option would be to simply park in any mult-story garage in the area and get a ride or take a taxi to the airport.

    Good luck!

  4. yes

on the 2nd or third floor

try to park towards the center

  5. I think any parking garage would be fine.  I wouldn't park in on the ground level just to be sure, in case of rising water.  Most parking garages lock up for storms and it would be very hard for the criminal element to get to your car.

For Katrina, I parked my car in the Macy's garage at the New Orleans Center Mall.  Although there were windows blown out in the hotel and malls, my car was fine.

  6.   THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE,LEAVE IT IN ANOTHER STATE,AND WITH THEFT INSURANCE. GOOD LUCK!   EricS

  7. Yes, that would be your best option.
