Where can I look to find all the companies I can invest in?

I know where to find major companies that everyone hears of like Google, Apple, McDonald's... I'm trying to find companies who don't get a lot of media attention or are small or foreign companies.

  1. Look on the websites of the New York Stock Exchange.  the American Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ.  You can download the entire list on each site.

    Get into the habit of making daily visits to some websites like MSN Money (http://moneycentral.msn.com/home.asp

    While at MSN following the strategy lab analysts to get a feel for what the pros are doing and why.  This site has some basic information for beginners. If any site offers free information, take it.
