Question:

Where can I make my boyfriend fall in love with me in Rome?

Ok, he's asked me to go to Rome - I had to pay my half, but he's paying for all meals etc <<grins>>. With one breath he begs me to go and see him, with the other he says "don't read anything into this trip". Mr Scardey-Cat or what? If I can't make him admit he's smitten in Rome, I don't know where else I could try! Any ideas for romantic restaurants, sites, etc? Thanks!

  1. I'm italian and I agree with the Gianicolo Hill, that's a sort of lover's hill for italians: many italian boys and girls use to go there to make their love promises.

  2. Trevi Fountain....so beautiful. Was there about 2 years and its breathtaking. And don't forget to keep the traditional legend of throwing a coin over your shoulder. They say if a visitor throws a coin over their shoulder, you are destined to return to Rome. Also you can wish for luck in your love life. But you will see in just walking the streets of Rome, Love is all over that city.....

  3. Oh, go to Gianicolo!!! :-)

  4. You could always go on a river boat dinner cruise. You'll be able to see the city and be all romantic.

  5. Rome in the rain is very romantic. In fact romance is from the word Rome! Go together it will take care of its self. Ciao Amore e buona fortuna! Baci!

  6. If you want romantic landscapes I suggest you two place:

From the GIANICOLO you can see a wanderful view of Roma. It is near TRASTEVERE (good place, too), the best is in the night.

Very romantic place is the PINCIO at VILLA BORGHESE. It is a terrace up PIAZZA DEL POPOLO. It has a good view, too.

You can rent a bike and you'll have a romantic tour by bike around VILLA BORGHESE

  7. Personally, I think you're reading too much into his invitation. If he was "smitten" with you he wouldn't be telling you "don't read anything into this trip" - he means that. He probably wants you to come to Rome because it sounds like he considers you a good friend and would like someone to vacation with. If you go, don't be disappointed by what will likely happen.

  8. All of Rome is beautiful, but if you want some real nice views and places that are romantic, try talking a walk on the Gianicolo Hill. There is a breath-taking view of the city from there. Also, the Villa Burghese is really nice. It is kind of a big park right near Piazza del Popolo. The Trastevere area has some nice romantic places to eat. There is a place with a rustic outdoor setting and singers perform at the ristorante across the street. I can't remember the name though. Other places to go would be all the sites from the movie Roman Holiday, like the Bocca della Verità (accent on the "a" at the end of "verità"), the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, etc.

A bit of advice, watch that you don't try too hard to make him fall in love with you. The fact that you are showing up puts the ball in his court. Let him make the move. Let go and have fun. Enjoy the time with him and the trip, and it will be special. Who knows, he might even realize how much he cares for you. But that is still a realization he has to make on his own.
