Question:

Where can I practice volleyball around the house?

I was playing where I bounced it against the roof of the garage, but that gave me some bad habits. My dad came home this weekend and he started practicing with me and I realized I had taught myself to hit to the garage and not a person.

I don't have a tall wall to hit against, so that's not an option.

None of my friends are very good at volleyball so it makes me worse instead of better when I try and practice with one of them.

What should I do? Where are some good places to practice?

  1. If you have a drive way hit it to where it wont hit a car. A Hill is best where to hit.

  2. you should go up to the school or a park where they have courts for fields that you can practice at ...all you need is a volleyball net... if your school has a volleyball team or you are on a volleyball team practice with some of them

  3. Do you have a hill near your house?  Our house is on a hill, so my daughter would stand at the bottom of the hill and practice her serving.  The ball would roll back down to her.

  4. Go to an open area & keep practicing underarm & fingering alone & i am sure u will improve.

  5. Do What My Sister And I Do We Play  Volleyball On The Roof Of Our House Because Our net Got Torn Up Or Buy A Net And Find Friends To Play With. This Way You Can Practice Without Going To A Park To Play. You Can Also Go Out To Your Backyard And Bump The Ball,And You Can Also Bump With A Friend. You Can Do What I Do Too.I Walk Around My Yard Bumping The Ball Back And forth For About 15 Minutes.

  6. i am a setter and to practice my aim i stand at different places away from a basketball goal and practice setting into it. it works my aim, my heigth and my patience.

  7. If you have a roof that slants down at a negative angle, you can bump and set the ball on your roof and then whenever it comes back down you can just bump, or set it back on the roof. This is what I do, when nobody  will practice with me. It helps a lot!

You could just bump to your self, which helps you which helps you with your passing accuracy. Or if your school gym is open you could go there and hit against that wall, if it is locked, ask one of your coaches if he/she can take some time to practice with you after school or on weekends. You could also ask one of the girls who is on your school's varsity team ( who you feel comfortable with) to practice with you. BEST OF LUCK!!!

  8. if you just have open space outside you could practice ball control drills wherever, passing, setting and stuff to your self

learning ball control is very important and the more practice the better you get

have fun and keep playing vball!

  9. well u could ask ur friends to throw that ball at u and u can return it to them and they can just catch it thats all u really need them to do and probably eventually they can get a hang of it

  10. When my coach told me to sit at the very edge of my bed and keep bumping it...she said not only does it help my stance but it helps you bumping skills...or if you like setting lay on the floor and set it in the air it helps a lot. i myself is a hitter so i go in the back yard and ask some to stand there and just try to catch the ball after i hit it..idk but that are some ways i learned.

  11. put soem hula hoops in the yard and practice serving, passing and hitting to them. it gets your control and aim better. i do it all the time and i have become a better passer because of it.

  12. just set or bump to yourself in your yard. while you're laying in bed set to yourself..

  13. find some friends who are on the volleyball team and practice with them. even people who have played volleyball but don't play it anymore.

  14. I practice on my driveway, in front of my house. I bump, volley, serve and everything else against the roof of my house.

or i get my friens toplay, and sometimes i just get them to throw the ball to me so i can just hit it back.

  15. Realistically, the only thing you can practice at home that will make a difference is setting.  Probably the best setting drill at home is to set against a wall outside.  Set it nice and high, which will (1) help you develop some arm strength (you'll start to feel it after a couple of minutes) and, more importantly, (2) should help you with your footwork.  You have to make sure to stay light on your feet and position yourself correctly every time.  You'll have time to do it, but you have to make yourself get in the habit of getting in the correct position even if you think it's an easy shot.  That will help your passing as well.

  16. Work with yourself by passing up straight. This will help with your technique because you must get it perfectly straight and right for you to be able to hit it again. I am not able to practice with anyone, this is what I do, and it definitely helps.
