  1. There are pickled (salty sour kind), candied, dried, and plums preserved in wine.

You can find them at most Asian food stores. Southeast Asian food stores don't tend to carry them, but Chinese ones usually do.

At the place where I go for Chinese plums, I find the pickled kind in the refrigerated section, the candied and dried kind in the bulk and in tins in the snack or dried fruit aisle, and the plums preserved in wine with the alcoholic beverages.

  2. Like the Japanese the Chinese will pickle, salt, dry or preserve plums in sugarand spices.

Most good Asian market that sell a wide range of food will have them in jars, packages with liquid, in small plastic containers (they use them as a after dinner palate cleanser), as state in salt that has to be rinsed off, I buy them here in Toronto ON Canada, I use them in both sweet and savoury dishes, as a sauce componant, and is bean pastes for sweet pastrys and buns.

If you want to e-mail me, I can help you find them in your area, or go to YellowPages.com and do a search inyour town, there are Asian suppliers on the internet you can also approach.
