A friend and I want to take a night train from Berlin to Prague. Can these tickets be bought online, if so where? Any advice from someone who knows a thing or two about night trains?

(We also want to take a night train from Prague to Vienna, so if you know anything about that as well, it would be appreciated tremendously!)

  1. Try googling German Railway, and see how you go.

  2. I have often found rail info from:

    http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/...

They also sell tickets, but as I have just ordered my first tickets from them and have not yet received (only booked this morning) I can not say much about their service on sending tickets.

The page with the times will also show prices, sometimes just standard prices, but if available also special offers, from 29 per single travel.

I know the site also sells couchettes, the cheaper places to sleep, but I think you will have to go an other way through the process to get them.

The 29 Euro tickets will be for sitting up through the night.

If you are in Europe already, you can try a bigger station, as they will be able to make reservation and sell you tickets for all main line travel in most of Europe.

For sleeping in the train in a couchette, it is not bad, but it is not as restful as sleeping in a normal bed. Sleeping when sitting up is a little harder, but not impossible, I find it nowhere near as nice.

I know the couchette tickets start at 49 Euros, but you will have to book at the right date to get hold of them, as they sell out quickly.

If you can not get it worked out with the rail companies, I know a Dutch travel agency specialized in rail tickets:

    http://www.treinreiswinkel.nl/

Their site is only in Dutch, but you can contact them if you get stuck.
