Where can I purchase expired magazines?

I was at the book store the other day and noticed the vendor removing last issue magazines and replacing with new. I wanted to purchase the last issue at a discount and he said "we distroy these" could this be true? I am looking for a source to purchase last issue magazines.

Sometimes your local library sells the older issues of magazine and most time they sell for under $1.
