  1. What do you concider to be "cheap prices"? What sort of light will the shrub get?

Some shrubs grow in a naturally round or ball shape and require little annual pruning or training to maintain their shape. However, being a living growing thing, they can outgrow their containers within a few short years, even with pruning. The rate of growth would depend on the species, where grown, etc., of course.

In general "spiral trees", which take a number of years to prune and train into an attractive spiral shape before being offered for sale, can rarely be found at "cheap prices" if healthy.

  2. bushes and trees that are pruned into shapes are called topiary.

i've seen them at Lowe's and home depot.

you should also try local nurseries sometimes they have very unique specimens of topiary,
