Where can I receive treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder?

I am in need of some psychiatric therapy, as I am experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress. I am wondering if there are any treatment/rehabilitation centers where I can go for an extended period of time to receive treatment for my emotional disorder.

Does anyone know of any treatment centers in the US (or abroad) where someone can get help? If you can please refer me to any websites or programs I would greatly appreciate it. I am not looking for a hospital, or a psychotherapist. I am moreso looking for a place that I can go to get away and get help for my emotional disorder. Thank you very much.

  1. the best person to ask this would be a specialist (i.e. a psychiatrist).  primary care doctors are ok, but a psychiatrist is better equipped with information regarding mental illness and the options available (obviously).  i'm sure there is such a place, as you are not the only one suffering from something like this.  i work for a psychiatrist, but i have not heard of any where.  but again, make an appointment with a psychiatrist and see where they can lead you.  good luck.

  2. The only places you can go to get help are hospital's or private dr's offices! There is no camp for resort for ppl with mental illness! Though having one would probably be a great idea!

  3. There are multiple places that treat Borderline both inpatient and outpatient.  You can call 212-966-6514, Treatment and Research Advancements National Association for Personality Disorders for a referral.  In Florida contact Florida Borderline Personality Disorder Association through this link, http://www.fbpda.org/contact-us/.  You can try McLean Hospital at Harvard.  Or call Marsha Linehan's office, she is the foremost expert on Dialectical Behavior Therapy - the most recommended therapy for BPD.  Her website is http://faculty.washington.edu/linehan/.

There is hope and help available.  You will want to be sure that you are dealing with someone/someplace who specializes in BPD, not just any therapist or inpatient facility can handle this diagnosis.

    Good luck.
