I am a Guatemalan Citizen living the the US. I have a US green card but I need to renew my Guatemalan Passport. Can I renew it in an embassy or consulate or would I have to travel to my country to get it done? My passport expires in 6 months but I am trying to find out if I can get it done here or if I will need to travel in order to do this.

  1. You cannoy renew the Guat passport in the U.S.  If U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security catches you doing that, it's minimum 5 years federal prison.

Go back to Guat, pick it up there. Do it legally.

  2. Contact your nearest Embassy or Consulate, normally you will be able to renew your passport if you reside in the US legally, to do so you will need to show them your green card.
