Where can I rent a horse in the Washington DC/Arlington VA area?

I am not looking for a guided trail ride, just would like to rent/lease a horse in the area.

I don't know of any place in DC or Arlington that will rent a horse in the way  you want. (For example, the Rock Creek Park stables only offers organized trail rides.) However, if you are willing to go a bit further,  you can find horses to lease.  One location that does this is Stonegate Stables in Aldie, VA:
