Question:

Where can I report threats received via email?

Recently I have received emails threating my life as well as my family's lives if I report the emails to anyone. I have been asked to pay money for information as to who has "hired" this person to end my life. I'm sure it's not real but I don't think this kind of email should be ignored. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

Attorney general Larry Long says that an email scam involving "hired killers" is making rounds on the Internet. Investigators have already received more than five complaints about the email in the past week.

Attorney general Larry Long said that the latest scam is a straightforward attempt by con artists to exploit people with fear.

The e-mail warns people to not contact the police and the email claims to be a threat from a hired killer. The message than continues to say that the victim can stop his or her own murder by wiring a specific amount of money to the sender.

Long said that people should not respond to the email and that if anyone is worried about suspicious e-mails than they can contact the FBI or forward the emails to the state's consumer protection division.
