I've only seen the B-2 once and it did a fly by a Canadian (Toronto) air show about 10 years ago. I have never seen it since and same with the B-52. Have they reitired these planes or are they just out of money and using them in Iraq? Any good sites to see what air shows have.

  1. Check the International Council of Airshows, they have a listing of shows and sometimes what supposed to be there.

    www.icas.org

  2. Air and Space Smithsonian Magazine publishes an annual list of all the airshows in the U.S. It was in the latest issue. That same information can more than likely be found at their web site.

EDIT: I checked the website and they do have a PDF file for that airshow schedule.  It only tells if the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds will perform.  The largest base for the B-52 in the U.S. is the Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana and they are having an open house May 10th and 11th.  Not sure if that involves any flying demonstrations of the bomber, but you're sure to see a B-52, and the Blue Angels will perform.  To find out more about the air show near you check the web site for that location.

  3. It is said when the last B-2 is parked for junk a B-52 will be there to pick up the crew. The B-52 has NOT been retired. Boeing built them to be in service for a very long time.

The B-2 hasn't been retired either. They're still in service flying over my home EVRY DAY!

  4. In Oshkosh, WI. for sure.

It's one the biggest in the US...

  5. Most airshows with military planes , and no , the B-52 is estimated to proceed service into 2040. That's what the military says.

  6. All of the military services participate in Air Shows that are scheduled at various points such as Municipal Airports that are large enough to support many aircraft or military bases. The Navy Blue Angels post a schedule each year and at these events many aircraft are put on display. The B-2 has been retired and the B-52 is very expensive to just fuel up so you may never see it. When fuel was 11 cents a gallon they flew everywhere, now it cost $2.50. Multiply that by 50,000 gallons.
