Question:

Where can I sell hand-made hair bows?

I make hair bows in my spare time and people love how I make them. Where would be a good place to sell my bows and what is a good pricing range? If you have any tips on selling, making, or anything else I would be very happy if you would tell me.

Please and thank you!

  1. Flea market, swap meet...ebay

  2. Sell them on Ebay, look at how much similar products sell there. I have bought many barrettes from Ebay in the past.

  3. At the flea market. I would probably sell them for $2 each. I think that's reasonable.

  4. Markets the best way i think or online.

  5. donnu

  6. Try eBay and have an eBay shop where people can browse and buy  your items.

  7. online

  8. Craigslist.org, ebay.

  9. The best way to make any profit at all would be at craft fairs and festivals.

  10. I would say eBay or a flea market.  Those would be easiest.

As for price, what are the bows made of?  How long did it take?  Are they large?  How much did you spend getting the materials?  Consider all of these things in your pricing.

A picture might help, too. ^^

    Good luck!

  11. flea markets, craft shows, craft stores ,online, put an ad in the newspaper ,rent a booth at a antiques mall, etc.

  12. take them to different hair salons in your general region.  Start out with your hair stylist if you have one...this will make your first time promoting them a little more comfortable for you.  As far as price...figure up from your supplies how much it costs you to make one...then consider how much each cost you in time.  say for example:

    barrettes $2.50 for 20 bows

ribbon $.50 yard so you bought  30 yards for 20 bows

(notice, I don't make bows, so Im guesstimating here ;) !!)

    glue 2.99

so you've spent about $25.00 to make 20 bows

it costs you $1.25 to make each bow

then you add up time spent...you should charge more on a bow that takes you 15 minutes then one you can throw together in just a couple minutes.  Check the competition and always try to beat them somewhat...but remember you want to make some money...so don't cut yourself short.

    GOOD LUCK!

  13. Go to an art/craft show and setup a booth there. Don't have them too expensive, but whatever you see fit. Buy an art/craft show book and it'll tell you where all the best spots, to sell your particular item(s), are. Another option would be to have a booth at a flea market, but then again things there are always super cheap, but lots of people generally buy stuff there. Look on the internet to see where your cities flea market is or when they're having one. And if you really want to go above and beyond, start your own home business, but add a few more things that you would like to make and sell and BINGO! Instant home business. Good Luck to you!

  14. The BEST BEST BEST place to sell stuff like that is Etsy.com. I make hair accessories and sell them on this site and you can really make a lot of money and it's so easy to set up but in a professional way. The site is dedicated to handmade goods so your items won't get lost in the millions of items on ebay or craigslist. I recommend this site to anyone trying to sell their handmade goods!

    Good Luck!

  15. 1) You can consult a production place to advertise your products.

    2) You can have a garage sale.

    3) Try to make them colorful for little girls to buy. They can look attractive to them.

    4) Make different themes for each hair bow.

EX: gothic, parties, formal, preppy....... etc.

    5) Try to make the prices affordable for consumers to buy, so then people will buy more.

    6) To make them successful, ask other people of what they are looking for and try to make them.

    7) Try to persuade the people to buy them. Post up posters in your neighborhood, try to ask shop workers (like Michael's Arts & Crafts Store) to post them on their tables to persuade the costumers.

    8) Start to sell them little by little (like door by door). Try to sell them at a low price then the pretty ones, a higher price.

    9) Now that it's summer, children are out of school and are buying more stuff that are attractive.

    10) Don't only sell hair bows....... try to sell other hair products.

I hope it goes through. Good Luck!!

  16. online, flea market, craft show, etc

  17. ebay, craigslist. also check around for local craft shows in your area where you can set up a booth (usually for a small fee).

as far as price it would depend. how much did your material cost to make it, how much time was put in? i would say a good start is $5-$10 but that's IF the material was cheap and time was short.

  18. you can sell your hair bows in a yard sell .All you have to do is put up the signs and the date place and time. you might sell them.

  19. mexico

  20. eBay

  21. http://etsy.com is the place to go. low fees, and it's just for handmade stuff.

  22. Wow! Sounds stylish! If you are ultra serious about this business, I would get a website (geocities works) and a seperate phone line where they can contact you.  If you don't want to make this a huge business and all, I would go to your hair cutting place where you get your nails done and ask if you can sell them by the cast register and get a display for your product for the hair salon customers to be able to purchase.  Maybe if they aren't sure you could consider giving them say 2% to 10% of your profit. I wouldn't sell for anymore than 5 dollars tops. Now, I haven't seen your product but it all depends on the quality and stylishness.  And if you are gonna have a stand outside of a hair/nail/beauty salon I would recommend being happy and charming.  Never be mean to a customer!  Even if they are your worst enemy, they are still your customer and could give you business!  Also, make business cards or flyers.  Have some happy customers write down quotes about your product!  Mention that they make wonderful gifts! Make sure your product has a nice color/style variety! Maybe have special deals like buy 3, get your 4th free! Good Luck and congratulations on being an entrepreneur!
