Where can I stay cheap in Chennai, between Egmore and Thousand Lights from next week till end of July ?

I want to stay in chennai to attend a training program near thousand lights mosque from the 12th June 2008 till the end of july and would like to know how cheap it will be. I prefer a place between the mosque and Egmore Rly Station.

I guess the best and economical place to stay would be Zama lodge opposite teynampet police station. It clean, safe and a decent place to stay. nice location. reasonable tariff and helpful management and staff. they also have a website www.zamalodge.com
