Question:

Where can I study about liquor?

I'm very blind about liquor. I want to know about alcoholic drinks. The type, the history, the good and the bad, what's famous and what's not, etc.

Are there any websites that help me for this?

I won't drink, but I'm probably going to serve alcoholic drinks in the future for my clients. But I can't serve anything that I don't know anything about!

  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquor

  2. buy a book

  3. There are a lot of different books available about the different types of alcoholic drinks, and more than likely, about their origins. So, any one of them would be a good choice.

Yes, sometimes a trip to your local bar can help. If the bartender isn't too busy, he/she might be willing to show you how to make the drinks that are most popular in that establishment. They're usually willing to pass on what they know, so you can try it at home sometime.

You could also enroll in a bartending course at your local Community College. My dad took a course and learned how to make all kinds of drinks. When he couldn't attend the classes (because the company he worked for decided to send him to Korea and Nigeria), my mom filled in for him. She even took the "final" for him. All that was, was mixing drinks for the class and getting hammered. lol

There are also websites you can go to and look up how to make specific drinks. If you already know what drinks you want to make, you can google it.

No matter what, have fun with it.
