Where can I take fencing lessons and how much do they cost?

How how much would a real katana, not a re-enactment, play, medieval fair, replica, but ones with the same quality as the original samurai versions cost?

From the "katana" part of the question, I'm not sure you want fencing lessons... possibly kendo or some other eastern martial art is what you are looking for.

However, for fencing lessons check out your local universities and clubs.  www.usfencing.org has links to member clubs in all 50 states with contact information.  Most clubs will offer beginner (and advanced) lessons a couple of times a year that will run for about 8 weeks or so.  Depending on where in the country you are, fencing lessons will run anywhere from $30 to $300.  The club I'm affiliated with on the west side of Nashville only charges about $30 for an 8 week class while other private clubs can charge as much as $60+ per individual lesson (our club, however, is not for profit).

On the other front, Museum Replicas (google 'em) makes "replica" weapons that are "real."  In other words, they attempt to replicate applicable forging techniques and provide a serviceable weapon; NOT one with an aluminum tang that bends with a single sword stroke.  I've been very happy with the rapier I purchased from them some time ago.

Otherwise, if you're looking for an actual antique, I'm not sure how to help.
