  1. A narrative is simply a story.  Fables, folk and fairy tales, short stories, and novels are all narratives.  One way to learn how to write a good narrative yourself is to read a wide variety of story types written by many different authors.

If you have a library near you, check out a few selections each week and read them quickly.  Children's books, young adult novels, new authors, famous/ classic authors, collections of short stories --- all of these choices will give you great models for writing a narrative of your own.

Don't necessarily look for "good phrases" to use.  Your narrative should come from you!  Use your own natural phrasing and word choices.  Of course, as you read, you will learn more vocabulary and be introduced to different ways of putting that vocabulary together.

There are also many sources on-line, in fact, an overwhelming number.
