  1. Type in the sector fund symbols for the sector you're interested in...

    The sector funds/ETFs are all listed in the weekend edition of Investors Business Daily         Use these as your guide


  2. This is not all that easy to do at least not directly.  TD Ameritrade will show you the performance of each sector, but they do have offer a screening tool.  For example they show Computer Services being up 9.4% in the last 52 weeks.  Admirable to say the least.  Heavy construction up 37.4%.  That is a wow.  But it can't hold a candle to coal mining.  Up 126%

  3. Check the "Stock" tab on Morningstar.com.  They have a few free options to track sector performance.  Sites such as Investors Business Daily (investors.com) have sector reports but require a paid subscription.

  4. Use the free stock software Hingescreen 1.5 from www.hingefire.com.
