This is not all that easy to do at least not directly.  TD Ameritrade will show you the performance of each sector, but they do have offer a screening tool.  For example they show Computer Services being up 9.4% in the last 52 weeks.  Admirable to say the least.  Heavy construction up 37.4%.  That is a wow.  But it can't hold a candle to coal mining.  Up 126%

Check the "Stock" tab on Morningstar.com.  They have a few free options to track sector performance.  Sites such as Investors Business Daily (investors.com) have sector reports but require a paid subscription.
