Where can I volunteer during my spring break?

I really want to spend my spring break (of 2009) volunteering, but I am having trouble finding a project that is

A. only one week long

B. Under $200

Does anyone know of any projects or organizations I can volunteer for?

  1. for that amount of money, your best bet is looking into either a local church organization or a habitat for humanity.  chances are local churches will run some type of volunteer program for the local kids for that week and it might even be really cheap.


  2. Many Churches have childcare. See if someone you know goes to a church that needs some help, or if you go to a church, help out there.

    It's fun, I do it, and sometimes, depending on who is in charge, you get to eat all the food and go on field-trips with the kids.

  3. Save money by going local...

    See if there is a charity race/walk that week.

    Habitat for Humanity always needs help.

    Work with a youth shelter (they would need help with kids on break)

    Work at a nursing home.

    Are you volunteering anywhere now?  Ask those people for help.

    The main thing... ask!  People will tell you what they need if you just ask them.
