Where can a 13 year old volunteer with animals?

Question

I really love animals and I would love to work with them but everywhere seems to want older teens to do the job. I am very responsible and I have had personal training with animals, yet no animal shelter seems to want a 13 year old girl working with their animals. Does anyone know of a place where I could find the volunteer work I want to do?

you do not say where you live -- most farmers would love to have you hang around -- there is always something a 13 year old could do!!!
