A lot of places around here won't hire that young. I know when my brother was 14 he washed dishes at a local restaurant for a while and also sacked groceries at Hen House. You might also want to consider mowing lawns, babysitting or petsitting. Summer time is a great time to do any of those!

Yea, grocery stores. Have you tried your city? I know OP hires 14 year olds at the pools. Why not try starting your own business? I don't know how your parents would feel but when my daughter was 13 she started her own pet walking business. She charged 10 bucks to go into the apartments (we lived in a apartment complex at the time) and took the (usually) dog out on a 30 min walk, and spent the other 30 minutes playing with the animal. I always went with her when someone called to gain her services to make sure they were ligitmate. I even helped when I was off. She made a killing because the pet owner usually was so grateful they did not have to drive all the way home on their lunch hour to let the dog out, it was well worth the 10 dollars day. My daughter loves animals, so the job was a joy for her. She is now heading off to College, probably will be a Vet eventually!  

Point is, you don't have to be "hired" by anyone, be resourceful! Start your own business!!!
