Where can a 16 year old legally get a tattoo?

i was just curious where a 16 year old can legally get a tattoo with parental conscent...

It depends on where you live.

I know that in Ontario, the majority of tattoo shops will tattoo someone who is 16 as long as the parent is with them and gives their consent.

I think its the same with piercings.

You have to have a parent with if you are under 18.

the legal age is 18, but some smaller shops will sometimes do it at 16 or 17 if your parent is with you in person(it is still illegal though)

to be honest though id wait, even if you think you REALLY want it now, you might not in a few years, im 18 and got my first tattoo on my birthday after years of planning it. a few of my friends got tattoos at 14 by a dodgy tattooist who doesnt care about your age or anything, and they all regret them, and they are badly done

im not trying to be patronising but its probably best to wait, i did and im crazy about the mod scene and im happy with my tattoos. ive had tons of ideas for years, and some i stuck with, some were just really stupid

um well i live in La and here like there's people that do it in there shops and they do it either your grown or not.

i know because a girl in my class got a tattoo on her wrist and she 13 and her friend did for her so yeah it deapends.

you cant....i mean im sure there is shops who will do it but it is against the law and when you get a tattoo they check your id...the good places anyways

In Australia most tattoo places don't check for id. >.<

well that's at least what Ive found. (:

Im not sure about laws else where but im sure most places wont do it with id over 18.

At age 16, you won't be able to legally get a tattoo even with parental consent, unless, of course your parent (or possibly a close relative, I'd check tattoo regulations if I were you) was a tattoo artist.  I can't tell you much other than that...  Maybe wait till you're 18, then you know for certain what you want anyway.  Good luck!

I'm sorry to say that I believe you should take the time until you are at least 18 to get a tattoo. The law is there for a reason... and believe you me, things that i wanted tattooed on me when I was 16 I would never want 4 years later... Just something to think about. Good luck with your decision..
