Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem. It isn't the bad part of Harlem, there are plenty of people of all different parts of NYC. The food is great and you will probably have to wait, so chat it up with a few people, and there is great food! It is right across the street from Fairway. Also, go to a Yankee game and sit with the Bleacher Creatures, there are a lot of guys and gals there and plenty of opportunities to make new friends.
