- In this experiment, a person views a slide show of pictures, set at their own pace.

- When they are done viewing the picture, they push a button to view the next.

- We COULD use a keyboard, but for some participants (limited motor skills) it is confusing to have so many buttons/keys.

- We would like a single key or button the participant could press to advance the slide.

- The slides would be done on PowerPoint or another computer program, so the button/key would have to be able to communicate to the computer (like through the USB port or something).

  1. You want a custom made piece of hardware (and some custom software).  It'll have to be designed and built/written.

About as close as you could come off the shelf, as far as the hardware goes, would be some sort of foot switch, maybe designed for dictation.  But you'd still need some software that would see the switch operation and make Power Point, or whatever program you're using, move to the next slide.

  2. Well,

I recommend you to convert PowerPoint to Flash presentation and then show your presentation in a player. Then you can control the process of playing. You don't need to add multiple buttons to your PowerPoint presentation, only by clicking the next and previous button you can turn into a slide with ease.

I use Wondershare PPT2Flash Standardd to help me. It supplies three player templates for you to use and present your presentation. It's an add-in of PowerPoint. It can convert PowerPoint to Flash with one click.
